The World Police and Fire Games, 2015

Whether you are a supporter of the police or firefighting community or just a fan of sports in general, the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) are something to behold. Held every two years, the WPFG brings an average of 12,000 public safety athletes together to compete in more than 60 different sports for various medals and honors. This year, the 2015 WPFG is being held in Fairfax County, VA and will culminate on July 5th. “The Games of Heroes” have been underway since June 26th but if you still want to catch up on the events underway, you can check out the WPFG Live Blog  and look for highlights or even get free tickets to public events that are still to come below.

Since its establishment in 1985, the World Police and Fire Games have traveled to worldwide locations such as Melbourne, Australia, Stockholm, Sweden and Barcelona, Spain. Now Fairfax County, VA has the great honor of hosting this incredible event, which will then head to Montreal, Canada in 2017 and Chengdu, China in 2019. Between 15 and 30 thousand visitors have come to Fairfax as spectators and supporters for these athletic events which will come to a close with a half marathon on Sunday at 7 AM.
